Facial FAQs

What is a clinical facial?

A clinical facial focuses on preventing and correcting signs of aging, acne, scars, hyperpigmentation, dry, dehydrated, and unbalanced skin types. Clinical facials are more advanced than just our average “traditional facial,” with a results-driven process.

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a treatment technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Chemical peels exfoliate by stimulating epidermal growth and delivering fibroblast to the skin with more collagen.

What is a cosmeceutical?

Cosmeceuticals (a combination of “cosmetic” and “pharmaceutical”) are cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients having medical or drug-like benefits. Image Skincare is the line I have been using for over a decade, due to its clinical-grade benefits.

With a chemical peel, will there be a lot of peeling and downtime?

It depends on your skin and the type of chemical peel you receive. However, some do not peel at all. Peels can go from mild flaking to extreme peeling. Downtime can vary from three days up to a week, depending on the strength of the solution.

What is a micro peel?

A micro peel is a more advanced exfoliation with a type of chemical peel solution geared towards your skin condition such as: hyper pigmentations, melisma, sun damage, mild acne or anti-aging. Downtime is minimal.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is equivalent to a razor blade shaving your legs and removing unwanted hairs, leaving your skin soft and smooth. However, if you have broken capillaries and rosacea, there could be an alternative treatment more appropriate to your skin.

What products should I avoid prior to a facial?

I recommend no exfoliating products with AHA’s, Retin-A or any prescribed topical on the face for at least 1 week prior to your service. Please consult me if you have been using any of these or if you are not sure.

Will I see any results with my first clinical facial?

You may see some visible improvements and feel a difference in your skin’s texture. However, having realistic expectations, you need to receive more treatments, follow post-care instructions and consistently use appropriate products in order to get your best result. You will receive the post-care instructions and products after your service and will need to adhere to all protocols to achieve the best results possible. An SPF 30 or greater is a must after all treatments!

How often can I get treated and how many treatments will it take to achieve results?

Depending on your skin type, you can receive a treatment initially every 2 weeks. It usually takes between 6 to 8 sessions to see the best results possible.

Will I experience any pain with these clinical facials?

Some may experience a warm, slightly tingling sensation during the process and a bit of redness afterward. Treatments are very comfortable and require only simple aftercare instructions.

Are there any age restrictions?

All services may be performed on clients under the age of 18 with a parent consent form. I even offer a youth facial specifically geared to teens and kids, emphasizing a proper skincare routine and gentle products and process.

Can someone be in the room with me?

There is only one person per service allowed in the room. Due to the nature of my business, I have a no child policy. This is for everyone’s safety. Thank you for your understanding.
